Pintoresco y rico lugar en Ward Island. Located on idyllic Ward’s Island just steps from the ferry dock, the Island Cafe is the perfect spot for a coffee, brunch, lunch, a home baked treat or a sunset dinner. Our counter service offers take out and an ice cream bar, and our garden patio is fully licensed. “We are a family-owned and family-operated small business; we are long time and life-long Island residents; our food is home cooked and home baked; we want everyone to feel welcome.
Delicious food with lots of locally grown ingredients. It's like a mini vacation going over to the islands for the day. We also rented bikes from the cafe to ride around Ward's Island.
âï¸ great great coffee flavor-as a coffe lover I say it's a must stop to relax and drink some good coffee.âï¸ must try their popsicles!âï¸ good breakfast menuâï¸a bit expensiveâï¸ well decorated🌟 needs to work on customer service.
While the food was actually good. Our experience was met with difficulties at every step, rather entertaining for us relaxed people. Rushed waitress, late food, late drinks. But the place is super relaxed and beautiful for a Cafe.
Amazing place but battery operated vehicles should be provided for tourists
VERY HOMEY, FRIENDLY, with fresh veggies from their own front yard. Wife had a peppermint tea with awesome aroma because the tea leaves were freshly picked from the front yard!Great patio overlooking the park and the dowtown buildings across the lake. Food was fresh and of great quality, desert (Key lime pie in a jar) equally impressive. Prompt service, waiter knew ALL the details about the food choices, down to how they are cooked and aged. Overall gives a sensation you stopped by someone's house and they offered you some food on the patio, does not look formal at all. The front yard is where you see what you will eat, homegrown kale and lettuce, peppermint and few others. Great location after travelling the whole island and located right by the Wards ferry.
A great place to pause and relax with an excellent coffee and (locally made) cookie or other treat, or an ice cream. I didn't have lunch but the place is popular. This Ward's Island café will definitely be better than any of the concession food on Centre Island.
Nice patio, friendly service and great food. The gravlox was delicious and a much larger portion than I expected for the price.
Very cool island bar. Very cool vibe.... On the Island. Have a drink while you wait for the ferry!
Such a beautiful little Island. Walked around the Island for an hour and then went to the cafe to have their awesome breakfast burrito. Service was excellent. I call this place paradise at least from my point of view. Will be back for sure.
Awesome food, large portions and a laid back atmosphere.
Really neat cafe we found touring the island. Hip outdoor bar and seating area. Avocado toast was good but would have been better with an over easy egg.
Such a cool & laid-back vibe. Not many places this chill in TO. Amazing view of harbour. Good burger. Great fries.
Nice spot to relax your weekend on Toronto Island. We had lemonade, nachos and fries.Everything was perfect and location was wonderful. We loved this place.
Amazing place. My favorite island restaurant! Everyone there is super nice and friendly and food and coffee are amazing. Totally worth it!
I like this place. Staffs are so friendly and each table has a bottle of wild flowers, that is so cute.
Great homemade food. Family run. Relaxed. Lovely atmosphere.
Was there with my wife and kids and in-laws and their kids. First off, this place is not kid friendly. Crowded, and they all but scoffed at my in-laws stroller and infant. Was immediately unimpressed, and it didn't get any better from there..Service was slow, food was food, but nothing to write home about. I got a sausage, the ones at my local grocery store are significantly better. My wife got shrimp which was like $15 for 5, count them, 5 shrimp. None of the 5 tasted very good. I had a beer, it was decent. Never got a second, wasn't worth the wait.
Great place to visit when on Toronto Island. Limited, but good menu, with some healthy options as well. Decent selection of beers and drinks as well.
Good food and friendly staff. Blueberry tart was super good! Only complaint, you have a display of bottles at the entrance to show how plastics are overused, but then you serve your: coleslaw, sour cream, salsa and guacamole in plastic containers.
Feel like great, locally sourced foods (heck, they even grow their own herbs & greens), craft beers, fresh juices, and wines, all while your 5 year old happily plays in the restaurant's sandbox or dashes around the lawns and gardens overlooking lake Ontario? Yeah. Good times on the island. This place = a happy summer.
Delicious food in a perfect setting
We visited on a relatively quiet day, only eight other people were at the restaurant for lunch. Our server was incredibly friendly and attentive, made drink/food suggestions and asked about our group's experience in the city. As some of the other reviews have suggested things can be a bit slow to arrive, but it's all part of the charm... if you're in a desperate rush to be somewhere else then maybe try Subway on Centre Island instead!
Great food I belive its home made. Warm and welcoming! Love the one of the Toronto Island nice!! ðŸ˜ðŸ‡¨ðŸ‡¦
This is definitely my favourite Island restaurant! It's a very laid back and relaxed spot with great vibes. The food is locally sourced and tastes amazing. I'd definitely recommend eating here!
Nice place, staff have no customer service they looked high! Decent dinner food but the cookies were aweful over $3 for 1 cookie and it was tastless worth going but dont expect great service.
Cute place. Some wait times but you can get food to go!
If you like a restaurant that is in a great location, has overstretched greasy unbuttoned shirt staff, and food portions that should be on the kids menu: then this is the place for you. We ordered 2 fish and chips and a hamburger: fish was really small and fries on all orders almost non existent. Will try other restaurant next time.
We stopped here for a “Caesar†(I was corrected by the local bartender when I asked for a Bloody Mary). While they were a bit pricy (expected on the island), they were delicious and spicy. I wish we would not have eaten before we came, because the plates they were turning out of the kitchen looked incredible. This was a relaxed place to take a beat on quiet side of the island away from the tourist. They even had their own kale garden!
Fun with friends, but the wait is crazy. Good pub type food, but the service is slow. Live music if you go on the right night. The surroundings are pretty. Good coffee too.
Local, tasty, outgoing service, cool ambiance and a true island vibe.
Lovely beach house and restaurant located on Ward's Island. Food is pretty good and prices are reasonable.
Wow, I was not expecting it to be so good! Quality food and ingredients with environmentally friendly ‘tude! Will definitely go back!
One of the best places in Toronto. Can't wait for spring to come again. Fantastic yard with green fresh herbs, lovely atmosphere.
It’s such a nice place with with a good view to the city and lake. But the staff should be more polite. Also they need urgently to improve the menu. Oysters, fresh fish, some sides and a better wine menu would be more appropriate to this fantastic place and view (the sunset is amazing!)
Really enjoyed this cute, home style cafe on the island. I didn’t order any food in the restaurant but I did grab an Iced Americano and a chocolate soft serve. The iced americano was pretty neutral, yet smooth. No outstanding flavour but was refreshing for a hot day. And there chocolate soft serve (which they only carried for the day) was so good! Would recommend if you’re in the area. It’s fairly spacious for a patio, and there’s a separate table for those who have dogs too. The food looked really good with seasonal options. would come back again.
The good place on the island.Good food, nice and professional service.Very good experience.
We stopped here for a short break while biking through the island. Really cute, rustic place for a sunny, summer day. The patio is large, and there are many benches strewn about if you are just having a snack. We had one of their all-natural popsicles - pina colada flavoured. It was good, but a bit expensive at $4.75. But, it’s the island and we expected food to come at a premium anyways.
The food here is always great and they have a varied menu (veg-friendly, too). Fun, beachy vibe with cheerful, accommodating servers. They make the best homemade iced tea (almost lemonade, really). The perfect place to recharge your batteries for an hour before getting back to cycling or walking around the island. Free kale Tuesday nights too!
I keep coming back for the atmosphere. It’s so unique in Toronto. The coffee is always good, variety of well priced baked goods and the recent change in ice cream is great. I did not like the previous Nestle fare and it didn’t suit the cafe either. The soft serve and frozen drinks are very good! For kids: I really like the play area. More places in Toronto need a meaningful area for the little customers. Would be helpful to see a little more seating that is more suited for kids as many customers or tourists to the area have little ones. The seats that are closer to the play area would be great if they were licensed. Also, the access to the bathroom is not the easiest with a stroller if you need to change a diaper. Use the grass instead to the side! The lounge chairs by the kale garden are such a lovey spot to relax. It’s very close to the Wards Island ferry and check out the area adjacent to it if you’re here for the first time like the pebble mosaic.
Very nice place and decent food. Menu choices are limited and the place is packed and busy give yourself enough time. When you get here, there are two options take away or sit down service, since the take away line is first most people invariably stand in that while waiting for a table. Make sure you check and ask.
Good healthy salad for 13 bucks and tasty fish and chips for 16 bucks. Good food for decent prices Coffees were also very good, same as the service
Vibe, vibes, vibes, I love their wide variety of cookies, and coffee drinks. They also have free homegrown kale some day of the week. Best time to go is morning time as lunch gets super busy. Service can improve but again it's island time so you can spare some extra minutes.
Beautiful place, the food was excellent, a great place to hang out and enjoy the island.
We had received service and our waiter was friendly. The food is pretty standard here. Nothing to write home about. The poutine could have used more cheese curds and be more melted. It ended up feeling like mostly fries with some toppings
Great people, fun menu, but ran out of icecream and cinnamon buns.
My favourite Toronto restaurant. The food and atmosphere are amazing. Lots of local, responsibly sourced options. Well worth the trip.
Found this hidden gem. Great coffee and cookies ! Coming back
Good place.
Great location and drinks. Food was ok and service was slow... But hey, that's island life!
